RTK-Net Increasing Efficiency on Major VDOT ProjectsSurveyors and Contractors all over Virginia and Maryland are experiencing tremendous increases in production and profitability by utilizing Leica GPS and Leica SmartStations connected to RTK-Net, the high accuracy GPS reference station network now active in Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C. and West Virginia. The huge geographic coverage provided by RTK-Net enables subscribers to work more efficiently and accurately than with conventional GPS systems. In a construction environment, RTK-Net users are not limited to a work area defined by the range of their base station radio. RTK-Net users can deploy quickly and move rapidly across the entire project with a single rover. More importantly, RTK-Net users work more accurately because all measurements are made from a single, high accuracy geospatial reference frame. The reference stations of RTK-Net are part of the National Geodetic Survey (N.G.S.) Cooperative CORS Network. The I.T. infrastructure behind RTK-Net is a highly engineered, tested and proven solution. As of May 2008, more than 65 organizations and over 150 rovers rely on the network on a daily basis. Loyola Spatial Systems is constantly expanding the network to meet customer requests for more coverage. Today, Loyola is the largest single operator of Cooperative CORS in the United States.
